Jordan. No notions coming in.

Safe. Stunning. Handsome people. Charming. All I knew about it coming in was Indiana Jones, Petra and…well…was walking through massive Petra canyons, purples, reds, yellows and orange in various layers. Mostly violet hues. The faces. Authentic Bedouins. Tough negotiators all. And hard lives. But the faces.

But it’s that last guy, above,  I can’t seem to get out of my head.

“Where you from?”

“The US”

“America…I love America…Jordanian people love America. Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist don’t care. Please take message of peace back to your people. Tell them, please, what I say to you. Do not hate us, we want good life and work hard for little. Be kind to us too…”

Wonderful insight from a very smart man.

“Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.”

“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment. Our life is what our thoughts make it.”

“If someone is able to show me that what I think or do is not right, I will happily change, for I seek the truth, by which no one was ever truly harmed. It is the person who continues in his self-deception and ignorance who is harmed.”

“Whenever you are about to find fault with someone, ask yourself the following question: What fault of mine most nearly resembles the one I am about to criticize?”

Marcus Aurelius
