Both sprints should be updated to the work agreement, often by retrospectively reviewing it and asking a question like, “Is it still our work agreements? What do we want to update? In what areas are new agreements needed? A work agreement is a short set of guidelines developed by the team for the team and set out the team`s expectations. A well-written agreement should help establish a clear and common understanding among all team members of what they recognize as good behavior and communication. It is usually referred to as a single “working agreement”, but in reality it consists of many individual agreements for each topic or problem. Divide groups of more than five people into subgroups. In my experience, it is easier to first reach an agreement in small groups and then bring it back to the whole. It even goes so far as to prevent outsiders from interfering in the participants, unless it is absolutely necessary. This helps to ensure that participants are present in both mind and body, and promotes team engagement. Work agreements are the rules/disciplines/processes that the team commits to committing to without error, in order to make themselves more efficient and become the self-administered aspect of Scrum. The working agreements should be reviewed at the end of each sprint during the retrospective meeting. As soon as team members feel that they are getting good results in an agreement and there is something else that needs to be addressed/discussed and added as a working agreement, they can replace it with another agreement after consensus. In this new normal, the ability for a team to discuss a remote team agreement is a recognition of the broader context. There`s nothing more frustrating, especially for a project manager, than decoupling team members in an important meeting. While you`re thrilled to have made everyone appear, you face a new struggle to grab the attention of attendees who are glued to their devices or doing work that has nothing to do with the goals of the meeting.
